Nothing frustrates a speaker as addressing a set of people only to discover that they are no longer paying attention. Brevity is the cogent aspect of effective communication. It is wisdom to handle a few thoughts at a time. It is wise to be brief for there is great gain in brevity. If you are not brief; you will end up wasting resources and time. Many talk too much; they waste words and spend unnecessary long period explaining what could be explained in few words. When you talk too much; it is display of immaturity.  Many students fail because they lack the ability to put down the real point in few words. I once heard a lecturer discuss with one of his colleagues on lack of patience to read through scripts that are too long. The other jokingly said that, he hates it with passion when students write sermons under the pretext of answering questions. What am I driving at? Prove your points in few words. (more…)
