QUOTE OF THE DAY: “EFFECTIVENESS IS NOT DOING THINGS RIGHT,

BUT DOING THE RIGHT THING”

ANCHOR TEXT: “But only one thing is needed. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her”

Luke 10:42.

Effectiveness is not measured by what you have done compared to what others have done, but rather what you have done compared to what you should have done. Thus, the core of effectiveness is successful completion of the correct assignment. It is not doing things right, but doing the right thing. It entails operating at the centre of God’s will. The effectiveness of a doctor is not determined or based on the number of patients he/she attends to,  but on the number of patients that get cure of their disease.  Similar, the effectiveness of a speaker is not determined by the number of people that listen to him/her, but by the number of people whose life get transformed by his/her message. Therefore, you can be busy, and not effective. You can be active and not progressive. This is exactly what Jesus noticed about Mary, hence His comment in Luke 10:42. Martha was very busy, but not in the right thing. Those who run life’s race on another person’s track or those who do not abide by the rules governing the fulfillment of their purpose are normally tagged: ‘busy but not effective’. Effectiveness begins from knowing the purpose of something and understanding the purpose of which you are created
