QUOTE OF THE DAY: “WHENEVER COMFORT IS THREATENED, CHANGE IS REQUIRED”

ANCHOR TEXT: “So Jephthah fled from his brothers and settled in the land of Tob, where a group of adventurers gathered around him and followed him”

Judges 11:3.

God loves us so much and has a purpose for our lives. He never wants us to be static, often; He orchestrates an event that will threaten our so-called comfort. God knows that when we are threatened, we will think, prepare and take steps that will launch us into new horizons.   Here is a testimony: ‘in my office, a colleague has been threatening that he will make sure he sends me back to the labour market. He had made several attempts to ensure we fight physically, that night, I had no choice but to pray fervently for long hours using Joshua 1:5. The next day, the so-called fellow was suddenly asked to stop coming to work till further notice’. I guess this testifier must have relaxed in prayers. That threat, somehow, was the catalyst to the reviving of his dying prayer life. (more…)

WEDNESDAY, 16TH JANUARY, 2019.

QUOTE OF THE DAY: “YOU CAN’T SELL TODAY’S PRODUCTS WITH YESTERDAY’S METHOD”

ANCHOR TEXT: “David said to the Philistine, “You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the Lord Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied”

1 Samuel 17:45.

Life is dynamic. Nothing is static. Knowledge is increasing; old things are gradually paving way for new things, and the level of awareness is increasing. This is one of the prophecies in the scripture, ‘…and many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall increase…’ (Daniel 12:4). All works of life and all spheres of human endeavour have witnessed and are still witnessing tremendous transformation. You can’t fight today’s battle using yesterday’s methods. Perhaps this is one of the reasons you are backward, struggling and almost strayed into oblivion.  For instance, the terrible state of obsolescence of the equipment used by our security agencies partly explains why they record more casualties in their encounters with armed criminals. Criminals and terrorists with modern day sophisticated weapons seem to be having the upper hand. Goliath still depended on obsolete method of fighting battles. He deployed his old-fashioned spear, bow and arrow, and the approach of direct confrontation in his encounter with David. He did not realize that those things were no longer as effective as they use to be. David made use of an unusual and most effective weapon that could be applied even at a distance from his target. The eventual result was the fall of Goliath.

MOTIVES AND EXPRESSIONS
January 15th, 2019 - (0 Comments)

TUESDAY, 15TH JANUARY, 2019.

QUOTE OF THE DAY: “BEFORE GOD, MOTIVES ARE LOUDER THAN UTTERANCES”

ANCHOR TEXT: “He sent them to Bethlehem and said, “Go and make a careful search for the child. As soon as you find him, report to me, so that I too may go and worship him”

Matthew 2:8.

Earthly judges establish their judgements on utterances and physical evidences, but God Almighty does on motives and intentions.  If you are terrible and crafty inside, possibly you could escape the notice and the judgement of man, but you cannot escape that of God. Before you say your prayers are not answered or things are not working, do ask; is my motive right? Is my attitude right with God? Do my intentions align with the will of God? You can pretend. You can hide your motives, but the world will always return to you, your hidden intentions. Every prayer translates to a curse to anyone whose intention is bad. There are many of such in the scripture: Saul invited David to play for him in the palace but his hidden intention was to kill the innocent boy. The aftermath was that Saul ended up dying by the sword. King Herod made enquiries from the wise men about where little Jesus was laid, he feigned his love to worship Him, but the real hidden intention was to get rid of the infant. In the end, King Herod died of heart attack. (more…)
