QUOTE OF THE DAY: “EVERYTHING WILL STAND STILL UNTIL YOU OBEY THE LAST INSTRUCTION GOD GAVE”

ANCHOR TEXT: “So he did what the Lord had told him. He went to the Kerith Ravine, east of the Jordan, and stayed there. The ravens brought him bread and meat in the morning and bread and meat in the evening, and he drank from the brook”

1 Kings 17:5-6.

p style=”text-align: justify;”>You cannot be blessed further than the last of God’s directive you obeyed, you cannot be lifted higher or walk with God further than His last instruction you obeyed.  Why do I say this? Our walk with God is progressive.  Every stage of our lives is a pre-requisite to the next. Obedience to the last directive is a pre-requisite to the next. Until the last instruction is obeyed, He does not give another.  God’s relationship with prophet Elijah that inspired today’s message was progressive. The first instruction God gave to him was to turn eastward, and hide himself by the brook called Cherith, that is before Jordan because that was where God’s provision was at that point in time.  Because he obeyed according to verse five, he enjoyed the first phase of God’s supernatural provision. Consequently, another instruction came, according to verse nine, this time around; he was to shift his base to Zarephath towards the gate of the city where another provision awaited him.  What a progressive journey! QUOTE OF THE DAY: “THE INTEREST OF ONE PERSON IS  NOTHING COMPARED TO THE INTEREST OF A GROUP”

ANCHOR TEXT: “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves”

Philippians 2:3.

If you want to succeed as a leader; if you want to enjoy the support of others, or get the best from people, you must put people’s interests first, and your own interest last.  This is one of the leadership secrets of Jesus and successful leaders that I have known or read about. This is not easy for a natural man; however, it is the truth.  People won’t support or commit themselves to whatever will not benefit them, either directly or indirectly.Whenever a leader attempts to engage people or two people want to do something together, question like: ‘in what way will this benefit or serve my interest’ will always come up and once people can see that your motives are right, and that you will put them ahead of your own selfish interests, they will willingly cooperate with you’.  Putting your interest before or above that of others is nothing but selfishness.  This is one of the reasons nations of the world are persistently going through unrests, terrorism and rebellion from their aggrieved citizens.  (more…)

EMBRACE UPRIGHTNESS

QUOTE OF THE DAY: “AN UPRIGHT MAN ENJOYS  GOD TO THE FULLEST”

Memory Verse: “I know also, my God, that thou triest the heart, and hast pleasure in uprightness. As for me, in the uprightness of mine heart I have willingly offered all these things: and now have I seen with joy thy people, which are present here, to offer willingly unto thee”

1 Chronicles 29:17.

Uprightness in this perspective is a state of being moral, honest and honourable. It is also a situation of unchanging standards, correctness, genuineness and forthrightness.  Walking uprightly is the only way to obtain true happiness with God and with man.  It is the proper way to attain all that man can reasonably hope and desire in this world. When you are diligent, benevolent, honest and have integrity with the fear of God, then, you are upright. When you are constant and consistent with yourself, when your deeds and what you profess agree, you can’t get into trouble. Though, the wicked may seem to be making it quick and fast, do not be discouraged or get carried away by their seeming prosperity acquired through crooked means in obtaining influence of worldly favours. Such ill-gotten wealth, fame, relevance and so on brings shame and ridicule. In the long run, only the upright in mind and on earth will partake of the kingdom benefits. (more…)
