HAS GOD NOT DONE ANYTHING?
November 24th, 2013 - (0 Comments)

QUOTE OF THE DAY: “AS MAGNET FINDS THE IRON, SO WILL A THANKFUL HEART FINDS HEAVENLY BLESSINGS”

Memory Verse: “They forgot the God who saved them, who had done great things in Egypt” Psalms 106:21.

Being truly grateful for what you have will make you have more. But if you concentrate on what you do not have, you will never, ever have enough. If you keep looking at what you do not have, there is no way you can recognize what you have. If you look at what you have in life, you cannot have everything. The unthankful heart deserve no mercy, but let the thankful heart sweep through the day and just as the magnet finds the iron, so he/she will find, in every hour, some heavenly blessings.

You may think you do not have anything, but I can tell you that you have something. God has done something for you! Someone said: ‘I have learnt silence from the talkative, tolerance from the intolerant, and kindness from the unkind; yet strange, I am ungrateful to these teachers’. What does this thought portray? You can give thanks for all things including strange circumstances, which are teachers sent along your life’s pathway.

That’s why 1 Corinthians 10:10 says; ‘And do not grumble, as some of them did – and were killed by the destroying angel’. Thanksgiving in your wilderness will add grace to your journey and makes straight your focus. Thanksgiving stops one from distractions of life. It portrays maturity; it is an act of worship. Concentrating on what you do not have puts unnecessary pressure on you, invokes the spirit of jealousy and portrays God to you in a bad light. To look away from what you do not have temporarily, even if they are pressing needs is maturity. Never let the enemy see your tears, never let he enemy notice your desperation, or they might operate on that platform to torture your emotions.

List out those things God has done for you since the year began. Are you not happy that God did them? So, irrespective of your present circumstance, give thanks. Stop pitying yourself. I prophesy; you will hear good news before today is over. You are lifted!

THE WORLD NEEDS TRUE LEADERS
November 23rd, 2013 - (0 Comments)

QUOTE OF THE DAY: “YOU CANNOT FIGHT WHAT YOU ARE GUILTY OF”

Memory Verse: “He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who does not lift up his soul to an idol or swear by what is false” Psalms 24:4.

Truly God needs men. The world also needs men. Men that will function in politics and governance, in the church, in leadership positions etc. God needs men through whom He will execute His intentions on earth. Men that will fit into this category are not just ordinary men. They are men:

Whose conscience cannot just be bought over at whatever price; whose word is their bond; who put character, integrity and good name above wealth; who do not hesitate to take chances; who will not lose their individuality in a crowd; who will be honest in small things as in great things; who will make no compromise with wrong; whose ambitions are not confined to their own selfish desires; who will not do anything because everybody else does it; who are true to their friends through sun and rain, in adversity as well as in prosperity; who are not afraid or ashamed to stand for the truth when it is unpopular; who say no with emphasis although the rest of the world says ‘yes’.

Do the above parameters describe you? If your answer is no, your leadership cannot be effective or impactful. No one gives what he/she does not have; neither does anyone fight successfully what he/she is guilty of. There are different kinds of leaders, but those that will illuminate the darkness of this world, those that will leave good legacies for the upcoming generations; those in whom the world can see or experience the attributes of God; those that will manage the resources of a nation judiciously are indeed very scarce. Until these crops of leaders emerge, the entire world will continue to groan in abject poverty.

You are a leader in your own capacity. What change do you desire to see in your generation? Let such change begin with you in your sphere of influence. Exhibit the change; others will buy into it sooner or later. By the time everybody connects to it, the whole world will feel the ripple effect. Get up, do something!

THE BATTLE IS GOD’S
November 22nd, 2013 - (0 Comments)

TODAY’S QUOTE: “SELF-DEFENCE IS POOR DEFENCE”

Memory Verse: “Do not take revenge, my friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” says the Lord” Romans 12:19.

Every act of self-defence carries with it certain measure of emotional undertones. Examples of emotion-driven self-defence are: murder, manslaughter, physical combat, denial of legitimate privileges, character assassination and many others. As humans, we are all emotional creatures. It takes maturity to control one’s emotions especially in the event of traumatic offences. And where emotions are not controlled, you may later realize you have taken law into your hands. Worst still, you may take some emotion-driven steps that will complicate matters beyond your imagination, which you may later regret.

A girl promised to marry a man when she was still in school. He spent a lot of money on her but after she had finished her school, she left the man who spent a fortune on her schooling for her former boyfriend. ‘Should I kill the girl or boyfriend? Which one should I kill?’ Asked the aggrieved man. If you are to advice this man on what to do, what would you tell him? To arrest, disrupt her wedding or kidnap her on her wedding day? The truth is; to implement any of the above suggestions is to use error to fight error which will ultimately yield greater error.

Even when you pray that your enemies should die, it is still God who determines such an action in His eternal wisdom which is beyond any human comprehension! Moses did not kill Pharaoh; Pharaoh killed himself, by reason of his fighting God. Esther did not kill Haman; he killed himself by reason of his touching the apple of God’s eyes. Jesus did not kill or curse Judas, he, through guilty conscience hanged himself.

God is the ultimate recipient of all offences. That is the reason; He knows the appropriate thing to do. When people disappoint you, you do not need to kill them, rather you take your pains to God, and He alone determines what happens to your enemies. Your emotions must not override your sense of reasoning, particularly at the moment of anger. Otherwise, you may violate the law of the land, thereby making yourself liable to prosecution or take steps that will complicate the matter. Leave the battle to God, force yourself to be patient. You will not get into avoidable trouble. Be peaceful!
