QUOTE OF THE DAY:
“MAN’S APPROVAL IS NOT NECESSARILY GOD’S APPROVAL”
Memory Verse: “For do I now persuade men, or God? Or do I seek to please men? For if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ”
Abraham Lincoln often told the parable of a lion who was so much in love with the woodman’s daughter. The fair maiden referred the lion to her father if he so much desired to have her as wife. The father looked at the lion and complained, ‘your teeth are too long’. So the lion went to a dentist and had them extracted. After he got over the pain of extraction, he asked the woodman to hand over his daughter to him so they could get married. ‘No, said the woodman, ‘your claws are too long’. Going back to the dentist, the lion had them drawn. Then he returned to claim his bride, and the woodman, seeing that the lion was unarmed, beat out his brains’ and made a mess of the king of the jungle, he looked at him and said, never will I have you as a son-in-law. This exactly is always the case, when you go out of your way to please man; the end result is usually catastophic. We all are tempted at some point to do things that are unholy in order to be liked and receive man’s applause. In Mark 15, Pilate, in an attempt to be men’s pleaser released Barabbas, and had Jesus, who committed no offence, whipped and handed over to be crucified.
